BETA EN 13158:2018 - Level 3 - is a body protector standard with 3 primary components:-

• it controls the area of the body that must be covered
• it tests impact performance both on flat ground and fence rails
• it measures security of attachment to the wearer

Impact testing is conducted at ambient temperatures.

Body protector manufacturers conforming to the BETA standards are required to annually re-test their approved products to ensure ongoing consistency in the quality of manufacture and of the shock-absorbing foams used in the construction of their garments.

Level 3 body protectors provide a level of protection that is considered appropriate for general riding, competitions including eventing, cross country and working with horses. Level 3 body protectors should prevent minor bruising that would have produced stiffness and pain, reduce soft tissue injuries and bruising and prevent a limited number of rib fractures.

Safety First Equestrian offers a 2nd hand Komperdell Safety Vest "trade in" or buy back service.

For those clients who have outgrown their safety vests, Safety First Equestrian will buy your vest back from you for resale and/or part payment towards a new, bigger vest.

Prices paid for the vests will be dependent on the condition of the vest and stock is dependent on availability.

Safety First Equestrian reserves the right to decline/refuse to trade-in/resell a vest if they feel that the vest is not in a suitable condition to provide the level of protection deemed fit.

Safety First Equestrian shall have no liability for any loss, damage or injury caused, in whole or in part, by its actions, omissions, or negligence, or any contingencies beyond its control in this regard.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS

• When not being used store your vest flat or hanging up in a ventilated area & avoid direct sunlight & extreme temperatures – allow the vest to “breathe”
• When transporting your vest, DO NOT place heavy objects on top of the vest as the heavy object may damage the “close-cell foam” and therefore negatively impact the safety efficacy of your vest
• When not being used store your vest in the coat sleeve originally delivered with your vest.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

• The FOAM in your body protector is a “thermo-elastic” foam made of special chemical components. It is sensitive to extreme temperature fluctuations. The function of the protector is reduced by about 10% at a temperature of OVER 30 degrees.
• Long-term, the Manufacturer recommends using a damp cloth to remove dirt and if necessary wash as stated below.
• The material properties of the vest allow for machine “handwashing”, up to 5 cycles (at 30 degrees) apply a mild detergent to the water.
• DO NOT spin-dry
• DO NOT tumble-dry
• DO NOT TWIST OR BEND THE PADDING EXCESSIVELY AS THIS WILL DAMAGE THE PADDING
• DO NOT dry clean
• DO NOT use solvents or chemicals
• Allow the vest to dry but do not expose it to direct sunlight

If the vest shows signs of damage, in the “protection area” AFTER an accident, the condition of the vest needs to be checked. The foam layers of the vest absorb the impact energy but each hit reduces the function of the protector and may cause damage to the vest.

The body protector features removable protection parts and in the event of a serious/heavy fall where the vest is compressed or damaged in any way, it is recommended that the damaged part of the vest be removed and replaced with a new protection part for the vest to be optimally effective in case of future falls.
